A. That is what we do. Your prop will be like new when you receive it back.

Q. How Do I pay for Prop Repairs or parts and services?

A. Hagood Brothers Marine accepts Visa,MC,AMEX, Discover or Check Card. We will accept your payment over the phone. We do not process payments through our website at this time. With Prop Repair, we will call or e-mail you with a quote to recondition your propeller and with your approval of the quote, we will request your payment information. The transaction will be completed upon completion of the repair and your prop will be shipped directly back to you.

Propeller Tips and Terms

Propeller cavitation causes vibration, noise and serious damage to your propeller. It be avoided by keeping your propeller in good condition through inspections and proper tuning. Cavitation problems must be split into two categories.

1. Propeller induced cavitation.
2. Vessel induced cavitation i.e. cavitation caused by appendages, hull shape and application.

Our prop shop can recondition your propeller and resolve propeller induced cavitation.

Some propellers produce a high pitched noise at certain points between idle speed and full RPM. At the best of times this can be annoying, if this point lies at a spot in the middle of your cruising RPM it will be intolerable. We can remove this noise.

If you are the proud owner of a beautiful yacht but you are a little embarrassed about the black smoke that is emerging from its transom, then it's time to do something about it. Overloading your engine will vastly reduce the overall life of this engine and the black smoke can seriously affect your boating pleasure. Correcting the propeller pitch will resolve this problem.

Propeller induced vibration can be caused by inaccuracies in pitch, camber and section shape. We can remove these inaccuracies. This results in a smoother, more efficient and often faster propeller.

When an engine revs higher than its recommended maximum RPM, it does not develop its maximum Horsepower. In other words you are not using your engine at its utmost capabilities. Most of the time this means there is additional speed to be gained. Correcting the propeller pitch to match your engine and boat will resolve this problem.

Many twin screw vessels have badly synchronized propellers in other words the port and starboard engine are not loaded equally at equal RPM. This is caused by pitch, camber and section shape differences between the two propellers. You can send both props to us for a complete tune up. We will match and tune each prop equally resulting in equal power and performance. This will make your boat smoother, faster, and perform the way is was ment to.

Reversing qualities are influenced by the position of your propeller and the section shape on the suction side of your propeller. If there is a suction section shape problem, we will fix it.  

Abrasives present in the surroundings often cause tip erosion. Tip erosion reduces the overall diameter and performance of your propeller.
